January Sample Society

Hello everyone,

I hope you're having a good Monday today. I will be reviewing Sample Society's January box. I wasn't too keen on this month's box because some of the items were not suitable for me. However, I did receive a lovely lipstick this month! Let's take a look…

1. Stila Cosmetics Color Balm Lipstick-Vivienne ($22)- A modern take on traditional lipstick, this creamy, lip color provides the full pigment load of a lipstick, yet delivers the shine of a gloss. Featuring a luxe, satin finish, this formula offers excellent color payoff while phyto-derived emollient properties deliver hydrated, healthy lips. Naturally cooling peppermint oil provides a fresh and rejuvenating sensation on the lips, while an exclusive certified organic sunflower based polyglyceride soothes, smoothes, and adds volume and definition to lips. Available in 16 luscious shades. I was really happy to get this lipstick in my box. I'm always happy when I get lipsticks in my box. :D The color is really natural and pretty and definitely a rosy MLBB shade. The texture is creamy.

2. Butter London Horse Power Nail Fertilizer ($20)-Horse Power Nail Fertilizer packs a punch even without those chemical nasties. Like makeup for the nails, it uses an herbal ingredient called Horsetail to strengthen and repair nails. When used properly, the results are really quite staggering! This seems like a great product, but since I have strong nails (from eating a lot of rice,) I personally won't use it. I will probably use it for an upcoming giveaway. :)

3. Orlane Paris Extreme Line Reducing Lip Care ($75)- Achieve truly kissable lips with Orlane Paris Extreme Line Reducing Lip Care. This luxurious treatment plumps lips in just minutes, helping to redefine a beautiful pout. It also hydrates, softens and protects, while preventing fine lines and wrinkles from forming around lips. Ok, so I don't know why I opened this up, but I tried it anyways. It's like a milky watery substance that you put on your lips and it supposedly helps to reduce wrinkles. I don't have any wrinkles yet on my lips so I can't say whether or not it works. It doesn't taste like anything either.



4. StriVectin SD Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles ($65)-Reduce the formation of wrinkles around eyes with the use of StriVectin SD Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles. This formula can fight against dark circles, puffiness around eyes, fine lines and crow's feet within weeks. It can increase the firmness, improve texture and renew skin's natural collagen. With regular use of this formula, you can reinforce skin's elasticity and do away fine lines and crow's feet. I will be gifting this to a friend.

5. Tocca Eau de Parfum, Margaux ($68)- The full moon overhead casts a silver light on a midnight stroll between a French beauty and her beloved. Evoking the warmth and comfort of finding your soulmate, Margaux embraces you with velvety petals of green gardenia and ambery violet. L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Blushing Berry

I am on the hunt for a deep berry lipstick for this Winter, so I'm sorry if you guys keep seeing posts about it. This is actually a really pretty raspberry berry color and it kept my lips smooth and hydrated all day. I actually brought this on my recent trip to LA and Jenny had complimented me on it :) Perfect color for day and night in my opinion.

L'Oreal Colour Riche leMatte & laLaque

L'Oreal came out with these babies awhile ago and I have been looking high and low ever since I saw It's Judy Time talking about it on her vlogging channel. Almost every store I went to either didn't know what I was talking about or they were completely sold out! I finally found a few at my local Rite Aid, but was disappointed to find only a small selection of colors to choose from.

I initially swatched the colors on my hands and love the smooth creamy formula. Very hydrating. The colors were way too bright for my comfort zone, but my biggest issue with these pencils is the taste of it. Now, I didn't apply it and licked my lips like a crazy person, but the scent and taste killed it for me. As beautiful as they are, I can't get over putting something on my lips that smell so horrible.

June Glossybox

June Glossybox is finally here after waiting for a whole month to receive it. *sigh* Aside from their extreme delay, at least the box itself is really pretty and the products inside were alright. In honesty, when it comes to their curated themed box, I feel like they put on this huge show and when it comes down to it, the box itself is just that, alright. Plus, on top of that, the wait. I think that's one of Glossybox's huge thing is their timing. They charge you early, but you don't actually receive it til the end of the month or like a curated box, the next month. Anyways, enough about that... let's see what we received this month!



Tarte Complexion Enhancing Lipstick in fair-to-light retail $29.00 // As always, Tarte has beautiful packaging, but sadly this nude-y pink doesn't look that great on me. The product itself glides on smooth and kept my lips pretty moisturized for hours.

Jenny's two cents- Sadly, this lipstick looks bad on me too. They are very similar in texture to Tarte's lip butters that I tried a few months back but returned because they emphasized all the cracks in my lips. Otherwise, I really love Tarte.



Sparitual Favorites Nail Polish in Kiss The Cook retail $12.00 // The color I received is a dark bloody red. Perfect for fall or during the holiday time, but way waaaay too dark for the summer. Application was smooth and dried pretty quick though.

Jenny's two cents- So, I got a pink nail polish that is so sheer I can hardly see it. This was a miss for me.

Philip B. Restorative Detangling Toning Mist retail $10-72.00 // This is realllllly nice. My hair feels incredibly soft, but the smell of the spray is really gross. Since it has apple cider vinegar in it, my hair faintly smells like feet? Or is that just my own personal issue.

c. Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist retail $8.00 // Dry oil for my face and body? Even though it's summer, my skin... especially my face has still been pretty dry. Especially after returning from California, my skin just seems to be dry up here in the pacific northwest. I sprayed it on after my shower and even though it was just the first time spraying it, it didn't help my dry skin that much. I think over time it'll work its magic. On top of that? I love the scent! Very light and reminds me faintly of almond cookies.



Oscar de la Renta retail $150.00 // *sigh* The one thing I loved about Glossybox was that there were NO PERFUME SAMPLES, but this month I got 6 of them. I don't care if it's a designer brand... perfume samples are perfume samples. 2 out of 6 scents resembles like men cologne which I like, but on a man.

Jenny's two cents-These perfumes sounded luxurious, but the packaging was cheap and the scents were too strong for me. Mine have moved downstairs for now..

Maybelline Vivids Lipstick

Hi everyone!

Today I will be reviewing Maybelline's Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor ($7.49). After seeing and hearing so much about these lipsticks I decided to give them a go. They deliver a smooth and saturated finish and at seven dollars a piece they are extremely affordable. I went to Ulta and picked up the shades Shocking Coral, Vibrant Mandarin, On Fire Red, and Vivid Rose. All of the shades are super easy to apply and leave a bright and somewhat glossy finish.

My favorite of the bunch is definitely Vibrant Mandarin which is a super bright coral orange. I mean, it is BRIGHT. These lipsticks are definitely not for the faint of heart as they are as vivd as they come. Shocking Coral is more of a bright pink and less of a coral for me. On Fire Red is a neutral red that is darker than my NSFW Lip Tar and less pink. It's not as flattering as NSFW is on my skin. Vivid Rose is a bright Fuschia pink.

All of these lipsticks are a lot of fun and something I would wear on occasion when the mood strikes me right. I've been really loving bold and bright lipsticks this year and I just can't get enough cha cha cha.

Besame Cosmetics

Ever wanted to add bit of vintage glamour to your life? Look no further as Besame cosmetics makes beautifully packaged vintage inspired cosmetics that are reminiscent of the 1940's. Once in a while I want to escape into a make believe world where I can dress up and pretend to switch lives with an old movie star. Makeup to me is a form of fantasy and creativity, and Besame has really captured the Golden Era from their Art Deco designs and golden lipstick cases.





I went to the actual store and tried on all of their lipsticks. I ended up purchasing Cherry Red (a really bright red that makes me wanna wear my hair in a 50's ponytail and sip on a milkshake.) I also bought Red Velvet, which is probably my favorite color and a nice neutral red. Finally I also got Merlot, which is a deeper browner 1930's kind of red. Besame describes it as a subdued brick red.

I really love these lipsticks as they are creamy, long wearing, and opaque. The best part is that they have a range of colors which guarantees that you will find a color that suits you. The lipsticks are modeled after the 1940's lipsticks that were made from actual bullet casings. In contrast to today's lipsticks, they are smaller and more portable. Each lipstick comes in a velvet pouch and decorative cardboard box.





Furthermore, Besame sells a range of cosmetics from powders to this crimson colored blush. Back in the day women wore one type of blush which was this pink cream blush. You can easily apply this blush with your fingers or with a sponge. It gives me skin a light pink flush and it easily build able for more color. January Glossybox: Man Repeller

I was really excited for the Man Repeller collab box, but the wait was overwhelmingly disappointing. As we know, Glossybox has a tendency to show up at our door step closer to the end of the month and I got this box a couple weeks into February! So now I'm wondering how far into March til I receive February box. Aside from that, Glossybox is still by far my favorite beauty subscription box and this month was pretty good! I received 7 goodies which is pretty amazing. Sorry not all items are pictured, but I did link up on the bottom.

OPI “Can‘t Let Go“ Liquid Sand Nail Lacquer retail $8.00 // My nails currently do not agree to having any polish on, so I haven't tried it, but the color is this gorgeous purple color. I'm excited to try it and concept is pretty neat and definitely unique.

Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum retail $35.00// I wore this when hubby and I went to a show and after 3 hours my t-zone was not a shiny mess like it usually would be. Fresh is a great brand with a lot of amazing products and this definitely did not disappoint.

Narciso Rodriguez her Eau de Toilette Spray retail $77.00 // Again with the perfume samples... this one is a more mature musky scent. It's not bad, but just not my favorite.

ESTÉE LAUDER Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara retail $25.00 // Mascaras are not my friend. I have pretty short lashes and whenever I do put on mascara, there is no difference.



Tarte glamazon pure performance 12-hour lipstick in Fierce retail $26.00 // This color is fierce alright! I never wear red lipsticks and my hubby said I looked pretty so that's always a good thing. I love how this lipstick is matte, bold and long wearing.

Sebastian Professional Potion 9 retail $19.00 // Styling my hair is nonexistent in my world unless you call me pulling it into a ponytail. I must of misread what this product is used for because I applied it after I shower and my hair was nice the next day. No frizz or anything.

LE MÉTIER DE BEAUTÉ Replenishing Daily Solution retail $225.00 // The sample alone cost $19! YES, in that small foil packet, gold was inside. Honestly, this was my favorite product this month and I wish I had more, but I'm not willing to shell out $200. My face is incredibly dry and flaky right now and sadly this didn't fix that entirely, but still an amazing product!

Maybelline Color Whisper

New addiction- Maybelline Color Whisper. I've seen a couple Youtube beauty gurus rave about this and was lucky enough to score a couple colors at my local Walgreens. I picked up #85 Berry Ready, #100 A Plum Prospect and #30 Pin Up Peach. My favorite is definitely 'a plum prospect'. Berry Ready is also a gorgeous color, but a little too bold for daily wear. The formula is really smooth and lasts a good couple hours before you have to reapply. Berry Ready does give you a slight stain if you're into that. They're very similar to the Revlon balm stains I posted about last year. What are your current favorite lip products?

Hourglass Femme Rouge

Hello girls,

Today I will be reviewing the new lipstick shade Vintage from Hourglass Cosmetics. While wandering the aisles of Sephora the other day I stumbled across this cosmetic line with the most gorgeous lipstick shades. I've never heard of the cosmetic company Hourglass until now. The company specializes in high end cosmetics that are both anti-aging and luxurious. I instantly fell in love with this deep rose shade lipstick. Not only is the formula creamy and hydrating, the color is so natural but opaque enough to show up nicely on the lips. It's great for my minimal makeup days. Although this lipstick didn't last all day, but it feels so nice on the lips that I don't mind reapplying it once in a while. The bronze lipstick case feels heavy and looks unique. Also, there is very little scent to it which is nice if you have sensitive lips. At $30 a piece, these aren't cheap, but they're definitely worth buying if you find a shade that suits you. A silky, richly pigmented formula that defines and shapes the lips as it moisturizes. This light as air formula immediately hydrates and softens lips for a luxurious feel and subtle shine.

September Glossybox

September's Glossybox is all about new products, formulas, technologies and colors of the season. I usually never look on their site or search through Instagram to see what the next box may contain, but after such an amazing box last month, I was curious. I did watch an unboxing on Youtube and I was getting pretty excited to receive my box!

I received Global Keratin shampoo and conditioner. For me personally, I wasn't too thrilled about the samples since we just received some a couple months back. The shampoo is nourished with plant extracts and it'll purify and moisturize the scalp and hair. The condition will put the finishing touch on your tresses and leaves hair smooth, radiant and revitalized. First off, I love the smell of both products. To me, it smells like perfume I either own or have owned before, so that's a plus. I used both shampoo and conditioner and my hair was nice and soft, but I noticed my hair was pretty greasy at the end of the day. Full size is $20 each for 10.1oz

Next product is the Kryolan for Glossybox lip in glossy pink. I think everyone received glossy pink since Kryolan collabrated with Glossybox to create this lipstick. The color is really pretty and is enriched with Vitamin E to stimulate and hydrate lips. It's also a very universal color and will compliment all skin tones. For once, a subscription box has finally given a product that EVERYONE can wear! For me, when I tried it on, the pink was a little bright, but after looking at it for awhile I think it really compliments of my skin tone. Full size is $14 for 0.14oz

The most talked about and raved product is probably the Missha BB Cream. This product is from Korea and if you don't know, BB in BB cream means blemish balm and this multi-use cream provides light coverage, soothes, protects and moisturizes your face. I unfortunately received Natural Beige #23 and when I tested it, it was a little light for my skin tone right now. I think it'll be great to use during winter when my skin gets lighter. Overall, it was a little thicker than my Maybelline BB cream, but it was really smooth to blend out. Full size is $29.99 for 1.69oz

Lastly, I did not receive the makeup remover and I'm not going to lie, I am so sad :( Instead, I received OC 8 Professional Mattifying Gel and it's suppose to control your shine all day long while helping you achieve a fresh and flawless even tone. As disappointed as I was, I did try it on the other day... you're suppose to wear it before you put your makeup on, but I failed to read the instructions and applied it after I put on my BB cream. This stuff is seriously amazing! It was a pretty hot day out and I was out running errands and usually my skin does get really shiny and I was so surprised that at the end of the day, my skin was still flawless and shine free. Full size is $30 for 1.6oz

Skin Food Makeup

Hi everyone!

So today, I decided to check out the Korean skin care and beauty brand called Skin Food. I was first introduced to this brand a few years ago while I was abroad in Thailand, so I was really excited that it's finally here in California. They mostly have a range of skin care products that are named and made from fruit and vegetable ingredients.The packaging alone is really pretty and alluring.

Today, I decided to pick up a few of their makeup items which I will list below the name and link to them. Anyways, I got two cream blushes or "Rose Cheek Chalk" in a pink and peach color. I also got a lipstick that looks like a bright pink berry color. It's quite sheer but I like that. I also got a lip and cheek tint in a bright pink/orange. Their colors are also exactly like they show in the pots.
